Mission of Shrine

  1. Strengthen the faith and holiness of members of our parish and visitors from our Diocese and our region through the prayerful experience of the religious art of Blessed Fra Angelico.
  2. Support through prayer, recognition and special liturgies, local and regional religious artists and their work.
  3. Serve as a resource for students and teachers of religious art at our own St. Mark Grade School, and other public and private schools throughout our region and Diocese.  This includes our cooperative relationship with the Art Department at Bradley University, adjacent to our parish complex.
  4. To support Blessed Fra Angelico’s cause for sainthood.
  5. To foster and support devotion to the Rosary in keeping with the artist’s devotion to that prayer as a priest in the Dominican order and his depictions of many of its mysteries as well as our Shrine’s inaugural year of 2003, designated by Pope John Paul II as the Year of the Rosary.
